A Dive into Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

News

Death Stranding captivated many audiences back in 2019. Hideo Kojima launched his enigmatic masterpiece which showcased the true essence of post apocalyptic world. The game introduced players to innovative game mechanics and philosophical ponderings. After years of speculations and teasers we are finally getting a sequel for the game. The game will be titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and will be set to release around 2025.

What We Know about the Sequel?

The sequel was set years after the first game’s event. Players will once again immerse themselves in the role of Sam Porter Bridges. Kojima Production gave a teaser about Sam’s journey who is working for a civilian outfit known as Drawbridge. The trailer shows that Sam is off to his adventures while carrying an eerie looking puppet.

In the trailer, we hear the narrator say

“You helped bring America together, helped it become the UCA, but I’m afraid the Death Stranding is far from over. Humanity is still in danger, still on the brink of extinction.”

The trailer gives us a glimmer of hope that the world will be more expansive and detailed than the previous games. The trailer showcases vast, diverse environments ranging from snow mountains to luscious valleys. Moreover, we can also expect rideable vehicles which will make transportation easier between different places. It will also make exploration more streamlined and efficient.

According to Gamer Update, most of the game will occur on water. As previously, there were many speculations that the project would have a cryptic title, “Ocean”. So, “On the Beach” is not so far off from the speculations. Moreover, in the trailer, we see it starts with Sam Bridges being on a ship. It creates a more eerie and intriguing atmosphere for the excited gamers.

What Is Our Expectation from the Sequel?

Death Stranding 2 promises to be a thrilling evolution of its predecessor. It will offer a deeper dive into its captivating dystopian world with refined gameplay. Moreover, we can definitely get some twisting narratives.

While retaining its core action-adventure elements, the game might venture into new territory. It may incorporate genres like survival or base building based on rumors and gameplay glimpses.

Kojima is known for his mind-bending narratives and surprises. So be prepared for twists and turns that could redefine our understanding of the Death Stranding universe.

With its unique blend of action, exploration, and philosophical intrigue, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has the potential to surpass its predecessor.

Impact of Death Stranding

The first game, Death Stranding, significantly impacted the gaming community. Hideo Kojima introduced the “Strand Game” mechanics. This new gaming mechanics introduced the concept of asynchronous multiplayer. Players interacted indirectly, leaving structures and messages to aid other players. This new mechanism inspired other games like SnowRunner and Endzone. The asynchronous multiplayer aspects of the game fostered a sense of community, with players helping and encouraging each other.

Moreover, the game explored complex themes of isolation, connection, and the fragility of life in a post-apocalyptic setting. This resonated with players, sparking discussions and interpretations long after completing the journey.

However, it is important to address that Death Stranding has its share of shortcomings. Many gamers criticized its pacing, repetitive mechanics, and convoluted story. Yet, it  left many gamers with a thought-provoking experience. The emotional storytelling touched the hearts of many gamers, who are now waiting for the new sequel.

Conclusion

Sam Porter Bridges is ready to set foot on a path fraught with danger and hope again. Gamers eagerly await reconnecting with this captivating world and discovering what lies beyond the Beach. This is the right moment for gamers to get into the franchise and try out the first game to have a more profound understanding of the sequel.
