Assetto Corsa Evo is set to come out on January 16th of 2025 in early access as they had released a video in which they had explained what the early access would offer and an expected date of the full release of the game. In early access players will have access to 20 cars and 7 tracks.
A Jump In Graphics And Simulation
The Assetto Corsa franchise had been striving for the best graphics and simulation experience ever since it came out. Assetto Corsa Evo aims to continue the tradition by bringing in a more polished look and better effects under various kinds of weather conditions. The game makes use of state of the art rendering techniques to provide hyper realistic visuals and physics to provide as accurate of a simulation as possible.
Along with dynamic weather conditions, there will also be other realistic conditions that the game will keep track of such as rubber tear, differences in traction when track conditions change from dry to wet. The team has been hard at work implementing suspension physics on each of the cars which in turn give a real feeling of the car when driving over bumps or track limits.
All these new features are being worked on and improved by quite literally testing different types of cars with sensors on them on tracks. It is clear that the team is trying their hardest to present as authentic an experience as possible from testing various cars on changing conditions.
Additions To The Campaign
There are new additions to the single player mode which are called ‘Practice Sessions’, ‘Quick Races’ and ‘Driving Academy’. ‘Driving Academy’ is a fully new addition to the game which gives a step by step guide to the first few sections of each track with a wide array of cars as a way to make the player learn the mechanics of driving and racing.
The games have been the most customizable also as there has always been a robust and active modding community around the game bringing in new cars or environments for players to explore and drive in. Assetto Corsa Evo will be no different as the game will be extremely accessible to those wanting to add content or any sort of mods.
A Powerful New Engine
The dynamic weather effects and extremely accurate representation of real world tracks and areas are being handled by their custom built in-house rendering engine. It is due to this technology they are able to present such hyper realistic graphics and race physics. The fact that the engine can place trees, grass, objects and notable details of any area when provided its geographical data shows just how powerful and advanced the engine is.
Due to these advancements the open world part of the game will have many features such as interaction to rent cars, buy and upgrade their own with aftermarket parts, add visual customizations etc, it is as if Need For Speed had combined with Forza Motorsport.
A Bright Future For Racing Simulators
Assetto Corsa has been paving the way for sim racing for a number of years now, while other games have come close such as the new Forza Motorsports and Sony’s Grand Turismo, none have captured the accuracy and level of detail that the Assetto Corsa games have offered.
It is clear how much the developer Kunos Simulazioni is raising the bar when it comes to the world of simulation. The game will hit 1.0 version in the fall of 2025 but they are already showcasing the jaw dropping visuals and their progress in simulating dynamic weather and the corresponding visual effects on the environment such as light to heavy rain and changes in light and reflections.
Assetto Corsa fans have an enormous treat to look forward to as the developers have confirmed the game is set to launch in 1.0 with 100 cars and 15 licensed circuits to choose from along with the open world setting for those wanting a beautiful drive across the various landscapes that will be featured. More cars and circuits will be added later through free updates which are just a cherry on top for the fans of the series.
