Big Changes for Rise of the Ronin: Patch 1.05

News

Rise of the Ronin is Team Ninja’s newest title where it was supposed to be Nioh (a game known for its in-depth combat mechanics) into an open world. Released in March of this year, it did not achieve desirable reviews as achieved around 7/10 across all the major reviewers such as Metacritic, IGN and gamespot. A particular critic being the loss of the in-depth mechanics which Team Ninja’s Nioh games are famous for and are still today.Recently the developers have released the patch 1.05. This new patch has some healthy dose of new content and some bug fixes.

“Wake up Samurai we got factions to Slaughter”

There are 5 new Ally missions in the game for the Midnight difficulty, these missions focus on players to team up and improve the security of the local areas. The highlight mission is called “Path of Chaos” which is set so that with each playthrough of the mission there will be different enemies to encounter each time. One of the missions is called “Eternal Night” which Team Ninja is declaring to be their most difficult mission in this update. Making players repeatedly test their skills in this mission is no doubt Team Ninja’s goal.

NEW SET BONUSES

Two armor sets have received set bonuses this update, the Ferocious Tiger set received a Blade Flash attack, a better forward dash. The Prodigious Dragon received Last ditch Counterspark, Neutral Combat. Both armours also received some minor passives along with its major bonuses. The bonuses for these armours are listed below:

Training is so much better now

Players can now test their skills against better opponents in training, such as with their blade twin and against bosses that were previously locked behind story missions. Along with this addition to Training players now have the option to reset “Unruly areas” to try again, sync missions that were completed on Midnight difficulty and also equip two of the same type of weapons to allow for different styles on each weapon, allowing a total of 6 different styles.

Some much needed Quality of Life

Players will continue sprinting when calling for the horse while sprinting on foot, the knockback players receive when countersparking enemies have been adjusted. Targets will not be switched when using the Right Stick during critical hits on the combat style UI.

It is now possible to switch styles while guarding, during Flash Attack and also during some animations. Players now have an increased chance of receiving Masterwork Items for defeating Formidable Foes.

A host of weapons also received improvements on their attacks which are:

  1. Katana: Yagyu Shinkage-ryu – Follow-up attack after counterspark is now easier to land
