Get Ready — Bose is ready to drop some new jams for summer adventures. First up, we received the mid-range Bose SoundLink Plus, then we got the upgrade of the ultra portable SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen). Both rugged Bluetooth speakers, therefore ideal for lounging near the pool or heading to a beach party, they offer brawny sound, reliable battery life, and sturdy build quality for outdoor use.
What’s New This Summer
So what’s new? Bose’s official announcement is over than a midrange speaker with the SoundLink Plus (which is between the Flex ($149) and the Max ($399)) and a whole new 2nd generation of the nostalgia invoking compact speaker, SoundLink Micro.
Introducing the SoundLink Plus
The SoundLink Plus is the perfect middle-ground speaker—not too big, not too small, and priced right at $269. The SoundLink Plus is naturally presented in price point distinctly between compact Flex and heavy duty Max.
Plus: Design & Durability
It comes in at 3.29 lb and has dimensions of roughly 9″ × 4″ × 3″, so it is quite backpackable. It is rated IP67 contributing to waterproof and dustproof and has a floating device. There is also a shock-resistant and rust-resistant case for the speakers, so you can adventure anywhere and even if you have a misadventure in a creek, you will be ready for your next adventure.
Plus: Sound Quality & Drivers
Inside is a dynamic trio: one subwoofer, one tweeter, and four passive radiators that deliver “booming bass” and clear, well-rounded audio. Whether you’re poolside or porch-bound, the sound is big enough to match.
Plus: Battery & Power Bank Feature
With up to 20 hours of listening time, you’re good to go on your summer road trip! As a bonus, the USB-C port acts as a power bank providing 15 W, allowing you to power up your phone while you power up your playlist.
Meet the Micro (2nd Gen)
The pocket-sized hero is back! Bose’s Micro was a success in 2017—and the 2nd Gen is ready to make a splash again.
Micro: Portability & Build
Small (around four inches square), ultra-lightweight, yet still IP67 rated, this little beast is rugged enough to take on any adventure. It now comes with a practical nylon strap—perfect for securing to a backpack, bike, or beach chair.
Micro: Upgraded performance
Bose has doubled down on concern by doubling battery life—now 12 hours, up from 6. Expect clearer highs without giving up bass! Using a single driver and dual passives unit will produce clearer highs! Oh, and USB C charging—we finally left micro USB behind.
Connectivity & App Integration
Both speakers featured Bluetooth 5.4, multipoint pairing, Google Fast Pair, SBC, AAC and aptX Adaptive. Through the Bose app, you can modify the EQ curve, update firmware, change shortcut buttons, pair for stereo or party modes, or link a sound bar.
Pricing & Availability

Summer Spotlight: Final Words
Picture this: a portable speaker with bass so serious it’s like you’re putting a ‘mini-concert’ in your bag. That’s Bose’s promise this summer—the SoundLink Plus offers up power and portability, and the Micro 2nd Gen gives you clever convenience. Bose is not just refreshing their offering— they’re refreshing your summer’s playlist.
