Dell XPS 13 Plus: A Closer Look

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is an ultraportable laptop, which is set to redefine the aesthetics, performance and innovation of laptops. Launched as a member of the XPS family of ultraportable laptops, the XPS 13 Plus is designed to be a flagship of sorts for Dell’s vision of what is possible in the category.

 Design and Build

The XPS 13 Plus is thin and sleek and has a clean and stylish look that is in sync with the modern trends. It is built on an aluminum frame and has a fully polished glass surface from the front to the back making the phone to have a classy look. It is only 14 inches in dimension and considered as a laptop. 2 kg/m 3 in density, and 8 mm in thickness of the wall that has been used. 24 kg, which is one of the lowest indicators and the device’s thickness is only 14. 9 mm.

The keyboard is rather unconventional with capacitive touch buttons for the function keys as well as the edge-to-edge layout of the keys that helped to shape the sleek look of the laptop. The touchpad is also incorporated into the palm rest with the smooth and seamless design to the palm rest for easy navigation.

 Display and Performance

Currently, the XPS 13 Plus features a 13. 4-inch InfinityEdge™ Non-touch screen, which can be either 4K Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) or Full HD+ (1920 x 1200). It has 16:10 aspect ratio which means more of the screen’s height is usable for work related purposes. The screen has a high HDR400 and a peak brightness of 500nits which means that the colors will be vivid and the details clear even in a well lit environment.

Inside the XPS 13 Plus, there is Intel’s 13th Gen Core i7 or Core i5 processor with up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. This configuration provides good performance for all general use tasks as well as light content creation and gaming.

 Battery Life and Charging

The laptop comes equipped with a 51WHr battery pack and it can deliver up to 12 hours of battery life under normal usage scenario. The battery of the XPS 13 Plus can be charged with USB-C and is able to charge up to 80 percent within an hour. The power adapter is small and its design is to fit well with the design of the laptop.

 Keyboard and Trackpad

The XPS 13 Plus is equipped with a special keyboard with capacitive labels on the keys for function keys that are illuminated. The keys are well spaced, with good key travel and feedback. The touchpad is located under the palm rest and it is very sensitive and recognises multi-touch gestures for easy control.

 Pros:

High-Quality Display: Bright 4K or Full HD+ screen with an HDR enhancement

Strong Performance: High-performance Intel 13th Gen processors coupled with sufficient RAM and storage

Good Battery Life: Up to 12 hours of battery life coupled with fast charging capability

 Cons:

Price: This is an important factor that may influence consumers’ decision since premium pricing is not affordable by many consumers.

Limited Ports: The laptop has limited ports that may be a problem if one wants more connections, which may need additional cables.

No Dedicated Graphics: It does not have dedicated graphics which can be a drawback for those who require more graphics intensive work to be done.

 Conclusion

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is a perfect combination of innovative design, powerful performance, and additional functions in an ultraportable and portable package. The high-quality display, integrated powerful processors, and the new generation keyboard layout make it a compelling laptop for the professionals and anyone in the need of a premium ultraportable notebook. Although the price and the number of ports are not as high as one might expect, the XPS 13 Plus can indeed be considered as a top of the line ultrabook.
