The DJI Air 3 is the newest member of the DJI’s consumer drone series that is powerful, portable and packed with features. From the two camera systems, longer flight time, and smart flight modes, the Air 3 targets both beginners and professional drone racers who want a highly capable drone for aerial photography.

 Design and Build

The DJI Air 3 is collapsible and lightweight; it is easy to take around especially when mountain climbing or when moving from one place to another. Still, the size of the drone is rather small but it is made of sturdy material, which makes it stable during its flight. This is made possible by the aerodynamic design of the drone which makes it have a great flight performance even in windy environments.

 Camera System

The Air 3 comes with a dual-camera with a wide angle and a telephoto camera with the size of 1/2 inch CMOS sensor. The wide-angle camera has an equivalent of 24mm in terms of focal length while the second telephoto has an equivalent of 48mm to allow for different shooting opportunities. The camera system allows capturing videos in 4K at up to 60fps and taking 48MP photos, providing rich colors, and high detail in videos and photos.

 Flight Performance

The DJI Air 3 has a maximum flight duration of up to 46 minutes, making it one of the longest in this class, and meaning that shoots can go on for long without recharging. This drone has been designed to be powered by DJI’s O3+ transmission system that ensures a very stable connection between the drone and the remote controller even when the drone is moving as far as 12 kilometers away. The Air 3 also has enhanced obstacle avoidance sensors which makes it possible to fly safely and under any circumstances.

 Intelligent Flight Modes

The DJI Air 3 features a number of intelligent flight modes that will help the operator capture complicated shots with ease. These are FocusTrack that enables the drone to track a subject and keep it centered in the frame and MasterShots that combine several pre-defined flight patterns to help the user create polished videos with ease. The drone also has Hyperlapse which provides for time lapse shooting within a short span of time through one tap.

 Pros:

Light and easy to carry with foldable arms.

Dual camera and 4K video recording capability

The overall flight time is also increased up to 46 minutes.

Sophisticated obstacle avoidance and other smart flight options

 Cons:

It costs more than the entry level drones for it has more features and capability than the simplest ones.

Available only in sizes up to 4K, no 8K

 Conclusion

The DJI Air 3 is one of the best drones for those who are looking for a powerful and portable drone with lots of features and an incredible camera. Be it the breathtaking sceneries or the exciting action sequences, the Air 3 provides the means and the power to enhance your aerial photography and videography. However, it is pricier than the previous models which, in exchange, gives you better performance and additional functionalities, which makes it worth the money for users interested in heavy use of drones.
