Echoes Of Wisdom, Zelda Finally Wields A Sword!

News

The newest in the long running, iconic franchise of Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, is where we get to play as Zelda for once not Link although it isn’t as if he isn’t in the game, a thing to is the game is following the art style of Link’s Awakening (the switch version) but it is not known whether its a direct sequel.  Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26th of this year on the switch.

An Inviting Artstyle And Relaxing Gameplay

Echos of Wisdom starts off with Zelda’s father being taken into a rift that suddenly appears in the king’s room and all across Hyrule. Here we play as Zelda to find out what happened to the King and to Link and figure out a way to save the Kingdom of Hyrule.

The gameplay is reminiscent of Link’s Awakening with the movement and combat quite similar to how it was with Link but here Zelda wields a sort of staff that allows Zelda will use “Echoes” to summon particular objects that help her in navigating through the over world and in the “Still World” where everything is floating and frozen.

There is still a lot of potential in the top-down setting with shifts to being 2D while exploring dungeons and completing puzzles in the Still World, which is a little bit reminiscent of the dark world the player explores in Pokemon Platinum when going towards Giratina.

Zelda will also use “Echoes” to summon sprites to throw towards enemies to either defeat or distract them. Zelda also gets access to a “Sword Fighter” form which basically turns her into Link from Link’s Awakening with the same attack moves from that game, however this is for a limited time with a blue gauge on the top left showing how much is left. This gauge can only be replenished in the Still World by collecting little blue orbs that float about.

Sure, It’s Not The Next Mainline Installment To Tears Of The Kingdom But..

While some fans were hoping for a reveal or hint of it from the Nintendo Direct showcase that happened on the 28th of August this game was the only Legend of Zelda title being shown. The game may not be as in depth and action packed as Tears of Kingdom or Breadth of Wild was, it is however perfect to play as a switch game.

The cutesy art style, calming music and relaxing puzzle challenges are nothing to scoff it and of course Nintendo’s subtle charm and ability to draw the player in will be ever present to make sure the purchase is worthwhile, plus there can be no argument that the next mainline title or sequel to Tears of the Kingdom (if there is any being planned) should come to the switch 2.

The mainline titles are in dire need of a machine that can play them at 60 frames per second, there is nobody that failed to notice the abysmal frame drops Tears of the Kingdom suffered from in the switch, especially during the game’s intense moments.

Casual And Serious Players Alike Should Give This One A Shot

Link’s Awakening was more than just a reboot of the Gameboy title, there are changes to questlines, costumes, the number of heart containers and seashells and fishing. The remake had lots of subtle details as they do with almost their titles that any eagle eyed viewer will spot and understand the reference.

The game also had a harder mode called “Hero Mode” similar to Breath of the Wild’s “Master Mode”. Now there isn’t any news detailing whether Echoes of Wisdom will have a hard mode but it would be a more than welcome edition as it would create the incentive to replay the title with the knowledge gained from playing in a regular setting.

Echoes of Wisdom is borrowing the two maps idea from Tears of the Kingdom and if Tears of the Kingdom is any indication it is very likely that completely exploring every nook and cranny of the game can take a considerable amount of time being well worth its sixty dollar price tag.
