Introduction
What would happen when you got to walk a mile in the shoes of ordinary office heroes but in the building beyond reality? That is FBC: Firebreak a daring remake by Remedy Entertainment of Control. It trades in psychic free-for-all but offers up wrench-waving and water-squirt co op amusement, and though it is not exactly top notch it is certainly original.
What is FBC: Firebreak?
FBC: Firebreak is a collaborative 3 player FPS that takes place in the surreal universe of Remedy games, Control. You take the role of normal but vital Federal Bureau of Control workers coming to terms with paranormal outbreaks in the Oldest House. Where you can use wrenches, water cannons and electrical gadgets against twisted enemies, there is no psychical power to use, as in Control
Platforms, pricing & release
Firebreak was released April 20, 2025, on PC (Steam/Epic) and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is a middle priced game (about 40 dollars), found in Game Pass and PS Plus Extra/Premium, and has optional deluxe versions that come with cosmetics.
Place: The Oldest House comes back
Taking place six years after Control, the Oldest House is quarantined by a bouncing red corruption called the Hiss. Your objective as a new member of the Firebreak team is to repel, repair and reinclose the outposts of this surreal government HQ.
An explanation of three Crisis Kits
- Fix Kit: Wields a mighty wrench to fix busted systems and install turrets.
- Shock Kit: An electro gun helps in energizing damaged equipment and shock the opponent.
- Splash Kit: Extinguishes fire, revives allies and quenches environmental threats using water.
It is an axiomatic paranormal first responder workplace toolbox with each box leading to success.
Structure of mission and game flow
The game is played in the form of jobs, which are short missions divided into five levels of launching. Goals are clearing sticky notes, fixing huge fans, or putting flames out of chaos, and all that must be done over waves of Hiss creatures. The missions are of three levels (“Clearance levels”) and varied difficulty levels.
Synergy and co op focus
The support is when it is needed the most. No voice talk? Don t worry, send a ping. Shields re charge when around comrades and kits complete one another: Fix supports, Shock stuns, Splash heals. Resurrections are done by hand-not by computers-you need teamplay.
Sighting & ambiance
Remedy trademark surrealism strikes with brutalist buildings, bizarre FBC technologies and strangely funny moments. You will be adjusting showers using a wrench, one moment, and fighting the tornado of piggies the next.
Design philosophy of Remedy: there is no FOMO
Farewell to grinding. There is no battle pass, no daily log ins no mandatory challenges in Firebreak. It is mid tier in cost, but does not require free game updates– only optional and paid cosmetics.
Impressions of players & Reddit response
Over on Reddit, fans skew specifically towards the positive:
FBC: Firebreak is a co op PvE shooter with lots of new ideas, stylish chaos… it shines when played as a team.
However, others predict it will crash into a wall unless new updates come along.
Post launch roadmap: Outbreak & Blackout
In 2020, there are two significant updates in Remedy free roadmap, which is free:
- Outbreak (Fall): Novel mission, Research Sector, new adversaries, novel gameplay mechanics connected to temperature, gratis loot, and paid-for cosmetics.
- Blackout (Winter): missions during the night, new enemies, gear, cosmetics, all free content in the game.
Remedy suggests additional updates in 2026 based on response .
Advices to novices
- Go off the reservation as a full-fledged squad. Lone wolves burn out quickly.
- Use or rather start with Splash or Fix kits to keep your squad sustained.
- Clear kits at all times and keep shields and healing boosts.
- Focus on safe room systems (ammo, respawn, showers).
- Experiment by escalating the clearance to seek out more gear and strong adversaries.
Where it fits in the Control universe
This is not the sequel to the Control- no mind-control, no hidden mysteries. Rather, it is a more light-hearted, co op inflected take, based on repartee and office humor. The Hiss is back, however, along with the absurdity of the bureaucracy supernatural cleanup.
Final conclusion
FBC: Firebreak is a strange, work day turned combat co op shooter that excels at team play. It may not be as in-depth or committed in its psy ops as it is in Control, but it overshadows it with humor and a simple yet entertaining gameplay. The non pressure mechanisms, no costs and cost of no upcoming content at 40 dollars is new. And it is one to test, in the case you are a fan of Remedy particularly, and also desire light, agitated entertainment with friends.
