Lost Hellden: Hand-Painted Japanese RPG World

News

Artisan Studios is developing their new Japanese RPG game, Lost Hellden. It is set for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Artisan Studios is a team with seasoned experience in the JRPG genre. They are known for their titles like Astria Ascending and Super Neptunia RPG. It is more interesting that they are collaborating with renowned industry veterans.

Hitoshi Sakimoto is famous for their impressive composition in Final Fantasy XII and Tactics Ogre. He will be responsible for Lost Hellden’s soundtrack. Secondly, Takeshi Oga, an experienced illustrator who worked in Gravity Rush and Siren, will be handling the game’s hand-painted work.

A World Bound by Sin

Hellden is a land where everyone is assigned a sin at birth. Sin is not just a label in Hellden. It is a force threatening to transform individuals into monstrous manifestations of their sins. However, as in every RPG, there is a loophole to escape from the curse. The holy land of Hellden holds the promise of breaking free from this curse. According to the trailer by IGN, the developers describe the world of Lost Hellden as

“Welcome to Era. Where every life comes with a price. Every Eran is bound to one of the Seven Sins before their first birthday. All their lives, people fight against their urges. A place in the Sacred Land of Hellden is promised to their immortal souls if they succeed. But if they fail and succumb to their sin. A fate worse than death awaits them…”

Our protagonist, Cyphel, is burdened by the sin of envy. His journey to Hellden becomes a fight for survival. Cyphel needs to deal with various obstacles and against the insidious whispers of his sin.

It seems like Cyphel will encounter a diverse cast of characters along the way. Each character will have their own story about dealing with their assigned sins. Some will become his allies, while others are formidable foes corrupted by their sins.

Deep 2D Meets 3D Immersion

Lost Hellden is trying to push the boundaries of artistic style. It utilizes a proprietary “Deep 2D” technology. This technology creates the illusion of 3D explorations even though the game is hand-painted. Moreover, it will give more life to the painted landscapes, from lush forests to desolate wastelands. Players will encounter a world with vibrant colors and dynamic lighting effects.

Combat System

The combat mechanism of Lost Hellden is a thrilling blend of action and strategy. You get to control up to eight characters. Each character has distinct fighting styles with special abilities. The main challenge will be to master the team synergy and pinpoint the enemy’s weaknesses. Moreover, the system offers depth, allowing you to customize your party composition. You can also tailor strategies to your preferred playstyle.

The Price of Choice

As in every other RPG game, your choices matter. Your choices throughout the narrative will heavily influence the game’s ending. It will have lasting consequences, shaping the relationship you forge with NPCs and the path you take. There will likely be some decisions to make, forcing you to confront the dark aspects of the game.

Is Lost Hellden for You?

If you are someone who loves JPRG, then this will be your new getaway. Moreover, it will be refreshing to enjoy some hand-painted RPG games. Lost Hellden offers a thought-provoking story despite being all vibrant and colorful. It will prepare you to face challenging combat and make tough choices. You will also immerse yourself in a world where sin colors every aspect of life.

Conclusion

Even though the game is still in the developing stage, it is glimmering with hope. Lost Hellden has the potential to stand out with its artistic vision and narrative depth. The hand-painted world steeped in shadows of sin and hope of redemption offers a unique experience. So, keep an eye out for this new JRPG!
