Ubisoft’s newest entry in the iconic franchise is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, after lots of delays due to the public backlash it was finally released on March 20th of this year. Since then the game has been received extremely well, it is not by any means perfect but has earned its place even amongst the toughest reviewers of the industry. It has received its first major update which addresses a lot of bugs and brings some much needed changes.
Quality Of Life Improvements
The lists the first of many significant quality of life improvements for the game, the first being Auto-follow mounts, this was a feature in almost all of the recent assassin’s creed titles but was mysteriously missing from the first. Along with adding this they’ve increased the speed of the horse when inside towns making it possible to just run through almost.
Another major quality of life improvement is the way in which we can sell items to any merchant, now we have the option to select batches of items to sell or dismantle, making inventory management much easier and reducing the amount of time spent sorting through.
A change that wasn’t needed but is an obvious plus is with resetting points in the skill tree, previously players who wanted to edit whichever nodes they had active had to reset that entire node, meaning skills that they weren’t willing to change also got affected. This update now lets players only lock or unlock specific nodes without affecting all other ones.
Visual Improvements
One of the biggest additions is the support for PSSR, sony’s rendition or feature that is comparable to NVIDIA’s DLSS, the game already looked amazing on the playstation but this feature no doubt will make the game look even greater and sharper than before. Players will have to enable this feature after installing the update.
Another big addition is the fact that the balanced game mode for the settings now has increased frame rate from the previous restriction of 30 FPS. This was made to make it so that the balanced mode is more closer to the quality mode experience. Lastly the Hideout now has an uncapped frame rate as it was locked to 40 FPS before the update.
Along with that the update also fixes a number of visual bugs, UI issues and fixed animations for some of the characters. These visual updates will no doubt enhance the already satisfying and exciting gameplay as Naoe.
Combat And Enemy AI Improvements
There are lots of balancing and mechanical fixes that the update introduces such as balancing some of the bosses to make the fights challenging but fair. Enemies now properly react to Naoe’s tools such as Shinobi deals making the stealth plays more and more engaging.
The accuracy of Yasuke’s Teppo has been improved which makes ranged combat more engaging and gives players choice on how they want to eat. This will enhance the experience further as the arrows will be more precise and reliable.
People already love playing as Naoe and this change will definitely provide a better experience to both veteran and amateur players. There is an overall concern due to the choices taken with Yasuke since release but this will also enhance for Yasuke players too.
Conclusion
The update has been extremely well received and people have voiced their opinion on the matter praising the changes, particularly way finder. People have said that this feature was heavily missed and is much needed nowadays.
The navigational GPS has now been disabled from the Photo Mode making it infinitely easier to take vistas from the game. The game already looks extremely well polished with amazing graphics and now this change will help in taking photos more friendlier and satisfying.
Even though Ubisoft is going through an acquisition internally with Tencent buying off certain portions of Ubisoft’s IP. The general player consensus is that this is a brilliant update and improves the experience of current or new players.
