While there are lots of titles of Ubisoft that are going through the ringer essentially for various reasons, Rainbow Six Siege has been gaining more and more players steadily. The game is finally hitting its 10 year mark and Ubisoft announced an exciting new expansion for the game with new modes and explaining their road map for the game.
The new content is slated to drop on June 10th of this year and of course it is going to be available on all platforms where Siege is already available.
A Refresher On Rainbow Six Siege
Since its 2015 release rainbow six siege has been continually gaining a steady stream of new players eager to try out the tactical competitive shooter. The main game mode features 5 rounds each of attacking and defending two bomb points.
Players on each side have to strategize on both how to defend or attack these two points using the various tools and special gadgets that are unique to the operators they choose. The mode has undergone lots of improvements over the years and has also gained a strong Esports community too.
Ubisoft have regularly released new operators and maps with each season of the game along with changes to the gameplay and meta to keep the game feeling fresh and new. The game has truly evolved into a behemoth in the space of competitive gaming in these past 10 years.
What New Mode?
The new mode is called Dual Front where it is a 6v6 mode featuring all of the operators we come to know on a seasonal rotation. Each team will be tasked with both defending and attacking various sectors of any given map.
Maps will also be changed on a regular rotation, on launch of this new content the mode will feature Clubhouse, Chalet, Border and Bank and Kafe. Each new season moving forward will bring 3 more maps to the pool.
On launch the mode will feature an exclusive new map and interactable map elements as the trailer showcased shooting fire extinguishers, creating clouds of smoke for reduced visibility, shooting gas pipes on the other hand creating explosions that can kill.
The mode essentially consists of two lanes on the aforementioned maps where in one lane, players will have to defend while attacking the other, the middle lane is called the neutral lane where players can let creativity flow with whatever operator they picked to play with.
Pick any operator you want and the objective is go into the enemy’s territory and go into the objective room. Placing a sabotage kit and defending it till completion, after which a new part of the map will open another sabotage point, doing it one more time unlocks the HQ of the enemy territory and winning that means victory.
Free To Play And 10 More Years
Another good news for players everywhere is that Rainbow Six Siege is going free to play however there are some limitations, free players will be able to try out the game’s casual game modes and only up to 26 of its more than 80 operators. Paying for the game will then allow players to experience the entire roster that the game has to offer along with ranked game modes.
Ubisoft also reiterated that they are pledging another 10 years of support to the game, no doubt a refreshing update considering how many games go defunct or stop receiving support because profit margins aren’t meeting expectations fast enough.
Conclusion
Rainbow Six Siege has it all essentially a healthy community, strong esports support with yearly Rainbow Six Invitationals being held, periodic content drops and now another guaranteed 10 years of support.
This update is also promising visual upgrades to all their maps and an audio overhaul for an altogether increased immersion when playing the game, which already invokes a sense of realism. Anyone interested in trying out the mode early can do so if they manage to get into the closed beta of the game which is expected to run until March 19th.
