There are new rumors swirling around the industry about a possible new Bloodborne project, rumors like these were coming out for years after the 2015 exclusive release of FromSoftware’s Bloodborne. As expected from a FromSoft title it blew people away upon release, from the drastic shift in tone to what FromSoftware was usually known for, to the changing forms of the various weapons and captivating story. ‘
A Lovecraftian Story And Epic Gameplay
Just refresh in case people have forgotten about Bloodborne (I highly doubt it), one of the first things to note down is how different this was from Fromsoftware’s catalog of Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne had a gothic revival architecture featuring churches and building designs from the seventeenth century, complete with burning carriages lining the streets, enemies and our player character wearing leather trench coats and wielding musket rifles and pistols.
It had weapons like extending saw blades, elongating axes and sword canes that could transform into whips. All having this worn-out, decaying design on them, furthering the rich lore surrounding this game’s setting and story.
Almost all of the bosses showcased were grotesque transformations from man to beast in some sick twisted ways and sometimes it go further as the individuals would transform into “cosmic” beings with a number of eyes and tentacles, all of which players could only describe as “Lovecraftian” or “Eldritch”, even the game itself would describe important lore revelations as “Eldritch Truths”.
It would be an understatement to say this game was “well received”, there isn’t a single person who has played this game and come out unsatisfied. Journalists, reviewers and players alike sing its praises from the moment it came out and have relentlessly asked Sony to release it on PC as they have done so for God of War and are doing so for God of War: Ragnarok.
The Rumor And The Jars Of Salt That Comes With It
The source of this latest rumor is by an insider called DanielRPK who has mostly given leaks and details regarding movies more than games. Every godforsaken rumor that came before DanielRPK’s always sounded sure that a new version of the game was in the works to be released shortly, or as a sequel.
As far as DanielRPK’s leaks, it was that “..a new Bloodborne game project in development”, that’s it. While it may not be as juicy as the previous rumors, with photoshopped images and people who worked on the game before apparently leaked images of it running on windows machines etc. Obviously DanielRPK hasn’t disclosed where he heard this from, why would anyone leak their sources of information and the overall vagueness of the leak itself is bringing in a hefty amount of salt with it.
Live As If There Is No Hope
The last thing anyone needs is to have their hopes up on the rumor mill only for Sony to disappoint us with their silence. We should try to live with the assumption that bloodborne will remain an exclusive with no chance of appearing for a PC release even though Sony has released Horizon Zero Dawn on PC and more recently its sequel Horizon Forbidden West, God of War (2018) is on PC, Spiderman is on PC and its more than likely, its sequel will also be on it and most of all God of War Ragnarok is also on PC.
All of the previous games mentioned were marketed as exclusive to the Playstation at launch and now are available on PC. It is highly expected that if a bloodborne remaster or project is really in the works the most logical one would be that it is being optimized for a release on PC, Sony knows it and the players know it, it would make Sony a boat load of money and there is no one who isn’t confused about Sony’s complete silence regarding it.
The closest thing to getting Bloodborne on PC as of right now is the emulation scene, there are some videos out of bloodborne getting to the home screen on PC emulators and while there is still a very long way to go, it gives some hope that soon players maybe able to play it on PC with all of its graphical fidelity realized with a butter smooth 60fps or more.
