Capcom’s latest entry in the Monster Hunter Franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds has received significant success as they had reported on X that they surpassed 10 sales worldwide. It was first released on 28th of February and has now received its first major update.
Title Update 1 was released on April 4th and introduces a bunch of new content and changes that are sure to change up the meta and enhance the experience even further for players new and old.
New Monsters And Rewards
One of the first monsters being added is called Mizutsune, it is a leviathan class monster known for its beautiful but destructive bubble attacks. Hunters will have to adapt to the monster’s ability to change terrains by creating slippery surfaces thus hindering movement.
A memorable monster is making a return as Zo Shia will be available to hunt again from the main campaign. Successfully defeating this monster will give players exclusive rewards and a formidable challenger no doubt.
The rewards for hunting these formidable foes are the armour sets that players will be able to obtain. The armour buffs go hand in hand with the weapons that can be crafted from the monsters themselves giving players more freedom in making their builds.
Various Weapon Changes
It has been discussed for some time in the community that the bow weapon is going to receive some changes. The patch notes state that the weapons Dragon Piercer Damage has been decreased, The elemental damage from the Power Volley move has been increased, damage of the Thousand Dragon move has been increased and finally Power Shot and Power Volley are going to be affected by the Charge master skill.
The update also fixed issues that players encountered with the Hunting Horn, specifically fixing certain moves that required simultaneous inputs that weren’t behaving correctly thus making it harder to use to its maximum potential.
The Lance weapon has received a change making it easier to land thrust attacks after a focused strike in which case the first attack would cause a huge knockback. Thus using focus strikes will be more consistent with the Lance. The Hammer Weapon has also received some changes that fixed the issue where focus strikes could not be used after coming to a stop after movement.
Miscellaneous Additions And Fixes
There are now Arena quests available in which hunters will have to face off against specific monsters in predetermined environments. These sort of challenges test the player’s skill along with their adaptability offering a unique challenge altogether.
Of course these quests offer unique rewards and items based on the monster being fought and how well the player performed in the arena. This increases replayability as players can try to aim for a better performance in order to obtain the highest reward.
The update also fixes a plethora of bugs players were facing for sometime, one such issue being that certain side missions would not accept item turn-ins. The BBQ meal issue has been fixed where cooking a BBQ meal inside a tent would either stop the game controls from functioning or would not apply the correct buffs that one would expect.
Conclusion
The update lists all of the changes which could not be mentioned in this article however there is one more amazing addition to mention which is a new seasonal event called the Festival of Accords.
The Festival of Accords will run from April 22 to May 6th and will see the Grand Hub’s atmosphere change into a more festive atmosphere, complete with decorations and new exclusive side quests which of course will offer exclusive rewards to those who can complete them.
All in all the first major update of Monster Hunter Wilds is setting the bar for all future major updates. Adding new monster hunts and side quests are always a positive as it allows players to jump back in and experience new content. Monster Hunter Wilds is and will continue to provide amazing combat and breathtaking monsters as it was with Monster Hunter World.
